This aint ballroom dancing!

Hey mom, look at me! I'm officially a blogger! Please be patient with me as I enter the 21st century! I will be here a couple times a week to interact with you, the Bears fans.

I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that the preseason has come to a close. The four "fake" games are a necessary evil. Teams must find a rhythm that only comes from lining up against an opponent. With that said, it's time to get it on for real.

After last night's walk-through with the Browns, I couldn't help but respond to the criticism Lovie and his coaches are receiving for the injury to rookie tight end Greg Olsen. Look, no one wanted Olsen to get hurt, he gives them a dimension they haven't had for years and they will certainly miss him.

BUT, this is a contact sport, not a dance class. Every time you walk onto that field, there is a chance that you might go off on a stretcher. That is the nature of the beast. He is young and learning the speed and intensity of the NFL game - you can't simulate that in practice. If he was injured late in the 4th quarter, I could understand the criticism, but with the clock winding down in the first half, I would have been upset if Olsen WASN'T in there getting valuable reps. I can criticize Lovie's handling of the Tank Johnson saga or the recent Lance Briggs situation, or his clock management ... I guess I can be pretty critical!

I wont criticize the staff for Olsens's injury. Also, it was nice to see Tommie Harris finally in uniform for live action. If he is 100 percent healthy, this will be the most dominant defense in the NFC.

Other than that, bring on the regular season! I'll tell you why the Bears are in trouble next Sunday!

Hi, Tom! Just wondering....Are you going to be posting your picks each week? I used to live in McHenry county and would read your picks every week. They don't post your picks on their on-line newspaper. I would pick the same teams that you picked, for our family football pool. I have won the trophy, twice, thanks to you!
