Waddle's World

Much needed, but not real convincing

Listen, I understand today's win was huge as it brings our Bears back to 4 and 5, a game under .500 and within reach of respectablitiy, but, to steal a phrase from Lou Pinella, lets not get all "Giggly". Yes, a win, is a win, is a win, but they had 2 weeks to prepare for a completely inept Raiders team and it took 57 minutes to get on track. The defense was better, and it was nice to see a Grossman to Berrian reunion, but Im not convinced they are "new and improved". Cedric Benson averaged just 2.6 yards per carry against the leagues worst run defense (Raiders were allowing 5.1 yds per carry). And, for the first time, Devin Hester was held in check without the opposing team kicking away from him. I hate to be a "Doubting Thomas", but my name is Tom, and the first half of the season left me with a ton of doubts surrounding my favorite team. Forgive my skepticism, but Im gonna reserve my elation till after the Seahawks game. A win in Seattle would make me feel a whole lot better about where this team is possibly headed!

I agree with you completely Doubting Tom. This Baars team is nothing more than a tease. They have one average game then take the next two off. Seattle is not Oakland, their Defense will expose either QB, Griese or Rex. By the way, I'm tired of all the Rex fans coming out of the woodworks, he isn't the answer, neither are Orton and Griese mind you, so just sit back and enjoy an 8-8 season if we're lucky. Only thing to happy about is our defense showed some life... finally.

The Bears are not a good team this year. They won't make the playoffs. They have to run the table to have a chance. 8-8 at best. They've had too many distractions with the Briggs caper leading things off. They have to get a franchise QB and keep him healthy. D.
