1. What are your top priorities?

Attract more businesses to Harvard. Doing so helps to reduce the tax burden on residents and provides jobs and shopping opportunities for residents.

2. What can Harvard do to spur economic development?

Much has been done already, and we should try to continue. The recent renovation of Ayer Street is a great example, helping to increase the value of properties here, and working to draw more businesses that will keep the shoppers in town. Our EDC has done a great job promoting Harvard to the rest of the metropolitan area and beyond, and they need to have our support.

3. What is the greatest challenge that Harvard is facing?

Like many of us as individuals, our income is falling and expenses are increasing. Sales tax and income tax revenue is down, and new construction is stagnant. We need to find more ways to control spending without additional revenue and still provide essential services to the community until the economy rebounds, which it will.

4. Why are you seeking public office?

I love this city and its residents, having come here from a larger community near Chicago. We need leaders who have the business background to guide our city’s policies and resources toward the goal of making Harvard even better and more attractive in the future.

5. Why are you the best person for the office that you are seeking?

I have spent the past four years as Alderman and have helped shape the workings of the city council. I have earned the respect of my peers by being thoughtful of the issues presented, willing to look at alternatives and forming my own opinion, always keeping in mind the needs and wishes of the residents of our ward and the city.
