Project "Green" Light

Taking personal responsibility for your carbon footprint is important. But educating others about climate change and each individuals impact on global warming is just as important.
And that’s where Project “Green” Light was born.
A grassroots initiative launched by Involvement Advocacy (www.involvementadvocacy.org), Project “Green” Light’s goal is to reduce energy usage by encouraging people to replace traditional incandescent light bulbs with highly efficient Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs.
If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an energy star qualified CFL bulb, enough energy would be saved to light more than 3 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars.

Here’s how the project works:

1. Take the Climate Challenge pledge that is on this Web site (http://www.nwherald.com/climatechallenge/pledge.php)
2. Purchase a three, four, or five-bulb CFL multi-pack. You can purchase them at many hardware stores and other retail outlets.
3. Set two bulbs aside and install the remaining bulbs in a household lamp or fixture that would normally take an incandescent bulb.
3. Print out two copies of this page.
4. Deliver the two remaining CFL bulbs, along with this instruction sheet that you have printed out, to two friends, relatives, neighbors or co-workers, and ask them to do the same.
5. Return to this Web site and share your experience with our readers.
