we owned our home from 1958-1980 off of gate six. We played in the tunnel by the farms and dug our own well for water. I'm wondering if that was a good idea. I also remember the weird smells and haze. Now I have ailments that the doctors can't figure out. I know there are probably alot of us going through this. Hearing about this is a scary thing. I wish us all good luck.

My brother passed away September 17th 2008 from this brain cancer and was denied being part of the class action suit. His store is still located in McHenry on green street. It was his dream to open it and did but was diagnosed with the terminal brain cancer 3months after taking his family's life savings to open it. I hope in the next year to be working to get a bill passed that makes Social Security release funds to those with terminal brain cancer - it stands now they dont. The Nelson-Tyler Act

While the toxin link to these cancers should not be dismissed, the most prevalent risk factor for cancer is advanced age. The immune system is known to decline with advancing age. Recent advancements show that vitamin D boosts the immune system and has anti-cancer properties. High-dose oral vitamin D would be appropriate in all cases of cancer, and diagnosed patients should also obtain a vitamin D blood test. - Bill Sardi, Knowledge of Health, Inc.

My wife Susan and I have lived in McCullom Lake since 1994. We are both professionals, Sue was a human resource professional and I am an author of software and electronics books and also speak on electronics and other related subjects. In January 2007 after having some back discomfort, Sue was diagnosed with Multiple-Myeloma, bone marrow cancer. She underwent a stem cell transplant in September 2007 and was in remission until August of 2008. Since August she has declined and is now in hospice.

Did those who had Glioblastomas all eat a lot a certain kind of fish from the lake? Did each family have a boat? What else of their everyday activities are in common with the local aquifer? The health department there really turned their backs on the people by releasing their report before obtaining more information. This is a mess.

My heart goes out to everyone going through this horrible tragety. My family is scared that this will happen to any one of us and it tears my heart apart to hear the trageties that the families of so many of my friends and once families are going through. My prayers go out to everyone ill or not. Stay strong and enjoy those you love while you can! I grew up with this generations children and pray everyone see some justice. Money doesn't make it better but someone should pay for this heartbreak!

Is there still a danger or are we dealing with results of chemicals that went in water years ago? Could there still be risks from this mess? What about the lake? Do we know if the lake is safe? I take kids swimming in that lake.

The solution is very simple here - have the owners, stockholders and family members of Rohm and Haas drink, shower and bathe in this water...The truth will be revealed very quickly...

Thank you so much for letting my dear sweet Aunt joannes voice be heard. Uncle Frank was a wonderful man, he is sorely missed by all of us. Get these low life corporate loosers.

I've been involved with the processing of polyvinyl chloride, PVC plastic, for the past 30 years. I was fortunate in that the danger of vinyl chloride monomer, VCM, was clearly recognized by the time I began my career. As a result of the recognition of VCM as a cause of liver cancer, strict limits of VCM content in PVC were mandated in the early 1970's. Knowing this, I would expect to see incidences of the specific type of liver cancer associated with exposure to vinyl chloride.

Oligodendroglioma affects 1 in 1 million people. You have McCollum Lake with a population around a 1000. Sherrie Gallas found the number of cancers in McCollum Lake intriguing but not necessarily statistically significant? Sounds like she has some interest in protecting these companies.

Andrew, I know of a family that lived on Beach view from 1986 to 1989. The Gardners, Travis was his name. I wonder if anyone in his family is having any complications. I know they move to Peria IL.

I have known one of the people in the report and his family almost all my life He has suffered so with Brain cancer. its a horrible nightmare that you can not wake up from. Companies that are responsible for this have got to stand accountable for the lives that they have affected and will continue to for how many years to come. My Heart and Paryers go out to all who have been affected and suffer. Its just so sad. It would be different if the owner or their child got ill. Erin Brockovich anyone

I have looked at the maps. It seems there is an extremely large incidence of brain cancers from Gate 3 east to Gate 1, which is the lowest part of the village. I think there should be an effort to look for former residents who lived in this area from 1960 till today. I have heard that Mr. Scarbrough, who lived at Gate 2, died quickly from something.

After reading the articles, I wonder about that 8 acre pond. I have heard that other companies used to dump in the pond as well. This I have heard from a worker who took things over to dump in the pond. I also know that most of the hills in this county are filled with sand and gravel. I do think it is possible for chemicals to leach more than 1 mile. The soil is very complex. I have heard that McHenry County is the largest sand and gravel producer in the United States.

Remember as a former Employee at Philadelphia get all the facts before you go off the deep end as many things can be taken out of the way they were meant to be.I lost my Father to Building 6.

I wonder how some residents of McCullom Lake can turn a blind eye to so many of their neighbors who have been stricken with cancer? Especially when one of those residents is the president!

As a former employee, I know of spills that were not reported or covered up. Go Get them. They are not an honest corporation

The stories of these families truely touch my heart. One of these is my brother-in-law whom I pray for daily. My thoughts and prayers are with all that have any cancer. A big thank you goes to the publisher who is making people aware of these tragedies.

Those stories are so incredibly sad. They all have great qualities of strength and love. I just want to go up to all of them and give them a great big hug. You are all in my prayers.
