Local emergency responders participated in a training exercise Saturday morning near the Early Childhood Center in Coal City. The scenario was that a train had collided with a school bus and the responders had to rescue the trapped, injured passengers.

Some of the items for sale in the eight-bedroom house at 417 North First Street in DeKalb. The house, once lived in by Isaac Ellwood's son Perry, was donated to the Ellwood House Foundation by Shirley Hamilton-Nehring. Joan Sereno, Executive Director of the Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice, reflects on her 25 years as director and her passion for her work. Joan will receive the inaugural Mary Jo Smith "The Spirit of Hospice Award" from the Joliet Hospice on May 6th.

Ringwood School Primary Center stepped up to take on the challenge to "hop" as an entire school in the Hop-A-Thon to raise money, bring community awareness, and support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The children participated in a mock restaurant where they had a menu of items that they could choose from and their classmates acted as servers and cooks. The restaurant was part of their Curious George unit.
